The Directorate of Geology & Mineral Resources was established as a “Wing” under the Department of Industries on 7 th April 1980 and was upgraded to full-fledged Directorate on the 1st September 2010 by bifurcating from the Directorate of Industries. The main activities of this Department are purely Scientific, Engineering and Technical and also field-oriented. The Department established its Headquarters Office at Luangmual, Aizawl, the capital of the State.
